Decree and Declare is a husband-and-wife run Christian brand. The Cooper-Russ' approached Autumnatic Media in hopes to receive an identifying logo that best represents their brand and its core messages. Decree and Declare had a logo professionally done prior to linking up with Autumnatic, but felt it did not evoke the right message or passion for the brand. It became Autumnatic Media's task to finally bring to life the Cooper-Russ' original image.
Please enjoy the process below!
Preliminary Work
The first sketch phase impressed the Cooper-Russ' and encouraged them to expand on design number four from the top set of sketches, as well as build on design number two from the bottom set of sketches. Number four from set one, inspired them to visualize a sword on fire design or a design featuring swords with a shield.
Below are the results of the second sketch phase.
Preliminary Work
From here the Cooper-Russ' chose to move onto the digital phase with design number two from the second set of sketches (Two D's offset with flame) as well as design number two from the above set of sketches (flame shaped shield).
The purpose of the first step in the digital phase, is to outline and detail the artwork in a simple black, white and grey color palette. The first returns of the black and white digital phase saw that the Cooper-Russ were between the flame shield design and the two offset D's design. The color phase was up next, and this allowed for the Cooper-Russ' to really get a feel for their logo.
Digital Process
Color Phase
After looking through the color options, the Cooper-Russ' decided the Double D with the Flames design was the symbol that best represented their brand. Of the four presented above this text, they went with the top left design. Once the Cooper-Russ' landed on a design, all that was left was completing the brand identity.
Below are all the brand assets including one color logos, wordmarks and the official Decree and Declare logo. This project took me about two months from start to finish and the Cooper-Russ' were almost brought to tears when they finally saw their vision brought to life.
